Symbols

Overview

You will be creating a series of symbols, at least 5, in Illustrator. You will need to rely on your previous skills and knowledge while creating these.

 

Objective - What is the problem I need to solve?

• How do I remember how to use Illustrator? 

• How will I create a series of unique symbols?

• How will I take my digital work to a physical design?

 

Project Requirements

• 5 different artboards are set up with a symbol on each artboard. 

• Use just a black fill and no stroke color. 

• Symbol’s Window is updated with your final designs

Step 1: Brainstorming Steps

1. Create a new folder inside your Final folder and name it “Symbol”.

2. Create a new Google Doc inside your project folder and copy and paste the Symbol Creative Brief into this new doc.

3. Fill out the top of the Creative Brief and title it by clicking on Untitled Document. 

4. Complete the Creative Brief brainstorming steps.

 

Step 2: Project Steps

1. Create a 4x4” file with 5 artboards. 

2. Embed all your sketch and any reference images you use.

 

Step 3: Turn In Directions

1. Save your AI file as “lastName_Symbol.ai”.

2. Export your file as a JPG by going to File>Export and changing the format to JPG. 

• Export All Pages

• Quality: High

• Resolution: 300

• Color Space: RGB

3. Complete the self-evaluation and grading on the rubric. 

4. Complete and submit the checklist in Schoology.
