Today you will update your portfolios to prepare you for your final portfolio presentations. 

 

Update Steps

1. Add in 2 more designs from this year so you have at least 4. 

2. Add 1 more design cycle project from this year so you have at least 3. One of these needs to be from this year. 

 

Design Cycle Requirements

1. You need to have at least 3 design cycle projects. At least 1 is from this year. 

2. Included elements are:

  • Project Title

  • A paragraph about what your original goal and what type of inspiration were you using in this design. Look back at what you wrote for your objectives. 

  • Images of your sketch and inspiration pieces. Title these sections so the viewer knows what they are looking at.

  • An image of your final design. 

  • Write a reflection on your final design. Discuss what you like about your design and why, what struggles you may have had in your design and how you created your design.

Monogram Logo Production & Portfolio Updates

Mr. Wiant will be working with you to get your logos laser cut today. If you are waiting for him you can be finalizing your self-evaluations for the monograms if you havn't yet or starting to make edits from the last round of feedback on your portfolios.

Monogram Logo ~ Revise & Finalize Stage

Finalize your designs today and turn them in correctly according to the directions. Do not delete any of your logos! Just put them on a different layer and turn the visibility off if you have a bunch of versions. Your final logo should be filling the entire artboard to create a balanced and professional design. So enlarge your design. 

 

Laser Cutter Directions

  1. Copy your logo and create a new file that you paste it into. 

  2. Create some sort of shape you want to have cutout like a square, circle or get creative. 

  3. Make sure this outline shape has no fill and you set the stroke to .001

  4. File>Save As>Format SVG and on the next screen change the type of SVG with the +.

  5. Upload to your Drive.

After getting some feedback you will continue with your designs working to turn these in the next class. You will be able to turn in your projects at the start of next class and prep your logo for the laser cutter. If you need the entire class to complete the logo you have that as well.

Today you will start your designs. Setup your designs correctly according to the directions on the project page and how many pages you need to create. Setup your columns and margins according to your design needs. Use your sketches as a reference while designing your menu.

Your next project will be to create a menu for a restaurant of your choice. You will complete your brainstorming today and then begin to design your menus next class. Mr. Wiant will be grading and giving you feedback for your Magazine Covers today as well.
